We Removed the Counter from the Front Page of Our Website

The FastCounter we had on the front of our website kept either refusing to load or counted backwards at random times, so we removed it. We may look for a new one, or we may leave the site with no counter, since detailed statistics are reported to us weekly, by our host.

Website Revisions

Since a few articles were slow loading, we have shortened the page length on long articles, so that there are more, but shorter pages. A few complicated articles, with separate diagrams, have been placed in frames, to make navigation easier. Affected articles: How to Unclog A Drain, Bioremediation, Application of Probiotics in Aquaculture, and Enzymes.

Alken Clear-Flo® Technical Updates

We Do Not Ship LIQUID Bacterial Formulas When There is a Risk of Freezing

All liquid microbial formulas are sensitive to freezing, so if you intend to purchase liquids during freezing weather, you will need to ship in a temperature-controlled container. 55 gallon drums and 275 gallon totes are slower to freeze. We otherwise suggest that you consider purchasing DRY formulas, instead. Ask Valerie 540-636-1236 or Claudia 718-224-0754 for suitable substitutes for your application. See our index of dry products at http://www.alken-murray.com/Bugdindex.htm See the liquid products index at http://www.alken-murray.com/Buglindex.htm

NEW Manufacturing Concentrates - Design Your Own Final Product!!!

For private label manufacturing, we now offer ALKEN ENZ-ODOR® - 10X (540 million CFU per ml) and 20X - (1.08 billion CFU per ml) Manufacturing Concentrates. Since the concentrates contain only bacteria and preservatives, omitting dyes, surfactants, perfumes, etc., you can use these blends to make products for ANY applications, including lakes and ponds. See more details in our Quick List of Liquid Microbial Formulas at http://www.alken-murray.com/Buglindex.htm

We also offer ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7100 - 4X Concentrate, which is a liquid version of CF 7000, without the dye, fragrance, surfactant, and bio-stimulant included in the dilute version of CF 7100. The total count of this formula is 10 million CFU per ml. Request a FREE sample for your bench scale test.

New Product - ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7007

This new formula with a total count of 5 billion CFU per gram, is designed specifically for small packaged waste treatment systems, but it will also be effective in municipal waste treatment plants, with influents of general household waste. We also can offer a liquid version of this product, named CLEAR-FLO 7107, with a count of 100 million CFU/ml., but the liquid has a shorter shelf-life and is more expensive to ship. See more information in our Quick List of Dry Microbial Formulas at http://www.alken-murray.com/Bugdindex.htm

Revised Formula - ALKEN ENZ-ODOR® 12

Alken Enz-Odor 1200 has been revised to include the odor control capabilities of the natural humic extract in our ALKEN NU-BIND and an improved surfactant, for better penetration. With a count of 450 million CFU per ml, this is the strongest liquid product offered anywhere for landfill odor control and enhancement of degradation. Request a FREE sample.

Measuring Dry Clear-Flo Products

While a 1 quart measure can be used to apportion 1 lb of Clear-Flo dry products (except CF 1002, 4002 and Enz-Odor 4), you can figure that approximately 6 level tablespoons will equal one ounce of weight.

Easy-to-Use Water Quality Sensors - Recommended by Pollution Online

All of the Water Quality Sensors have a 4-20mA output and are rugged, industrial grade, designed for direct immersion into any surface water or ground water application. The WQ401 measures dissolved oxygen concentration in water. The WQ101 sensor measures water temperature. The WQ307 measures water conductivity. Water conductivity has a direct relationship with salinity and the sensor can be used for measuring saline. The WQ600-ORP measures the oxidation-reduction potential of water. ORP can simply be thought of as the speed at which water will cause metals to rust. The WQ201 is a sensor for measuring the pH of water. All of these water quality sensors can be connected to a datalogger; we recommend our GL300A datalogger for remote environmental monitoring. Free Life-Cycle Assessment on the Internet

This program was developed by Carnegie Mellon University, building upon an commodity input-output model of the US Department of Commerce that incorporates 500 commodity sectors. The LCA model calculates various environmental impacts, including energy use, toxic material releases, the economic value of conventional air pollution, etc, based on a dollar amount of a particular product produced.http://www.eiolca.net

The entire supply chain of requirements is included, so that the effects of producing a $20,000 motor vehicle would include not only the impacts of final assembly, but also the impact from mining of metals, making electronic parts, forming windows, etc. that are needed for parts to build the car. This analysis is a form of life cycle assessment based upon an economic input output model of the United States, publicly available data and linear algebra calculation methods.
