 ALKEN® AFZ 875

Material Safety Data Sheet

BOILER ANTIFOAM

DESCRIPTION:
ALKEN AFZ-875 is a blend of polyols specifically designed to control foaming in boilers caused by oil contamination, excessively high dissolved solids and/or alkalinity, and many types of process contamination. ALKEN® AFZ-875 reduces surface tension, breaks oil emulsions, and maintains boiler water conditions to assure normal steam release at the water-steam interface. Foaming and the probability of carryover are minimized.

ADVANTAGES:
  • Allows operation with less blowdown.
  • Reduces fuel consumption.
  • Maintains steam purity.
  • Suppresses potential for product contamination.

DOSAGE AND FEEDING:
ALKEN® AFZ-875 should be blended and fed with other internal treatment chemicals. Continuous feed is strongly recommended. Dosage requirements vary according to the amount and nature of contaminents, boiler design, and steam demand. Typically, dosages range between one-quarter pint and one pint per 5,000 gallons of feedwater. Actual dosage must be determined from measurement of steam purity.

PACKAGING and HANDLING:
ALKEN® AFZ-875 is shipped in containers conforming to Performance Oriented Packaging specifications in 15-, 30- and 55 gallon sizes. Keep container closed when not in use. Store at moderate temperatures, do not freeze. Periods of exposure to high temperature should be minimized.

REGULATORY STATUS

ALKEN® AFZ-875 complies with FDA 21 CFR 184.1139 regulations for boiler water additives used in preparation of steam that will contact food and was authorized by USDA for use in federally inspected meat and poultry plants, category "G6", "for use as a boiler water additive, used in the preparation of steam that WILL contact food".
