In April of 1998, the Guadalajara Country Club approached Alken-Murray distributor DEPQUI to solve their problems with odor and muddy-green water. Club management had tried a variety of chemical and biological treatments with no success. Ing. Luis Javier Rodgriguez Ortiz carefully analyzed the water and consulted with Alken-Murray's V-P Management, Claudia Velasco, before offering a treatment proposal for their 4,000 M³pond.
Alken Clear-Flo® 1007 (7000) was initially selected for application because of its success at several other golf courses and it did discourage most surface algae, but was unable to clear away the green water color.
Further consultation with Ms. Velasco led to a modified treatment which included one small dose of polymer and a single application of Alken Clear-Flo® 1001 which instantly cleared the water. Follow-up treatment was continued with Alken Clear-Flo® 1200 with its Alken Clear-Flo® 1001 supplement which has maintained clean water for this pond.
Prior to any treatment, a water sample was tested April 6th, 1998. Treatment progress was monitored on April 27th, May 13th, 19th and 23rd. (See graphs attached)
Test results comparing the pre-treatment conditions in April with the post-treatment water quality in May reveal BOD reduced by 97%, COD reduced by 85%, TSS reduced by 98%, and phosphates reduced by 69%.
