Alken® Bio-Nutrient 4: is prescribed for bioremediation, and should not be applied to wastewater systems that include nitrification in their processes. The nitrogen to phosphate ratio is 5:1, just like wastewater nutrient supplement Alken Bio-Nutrient 3, but it contains nitrification inhibitors which would inhibit nitrification, potentially damaging compliance with NPDES discharge permits. If applying BN-4 to contaminated ponds, lakes or groundwater sites, use the following calculations to balance nitrogen or phosphate required. We usually advise balancing for nitrogen requirements because these are higher and more vital to achieving good results.

Alken ® Bio-Nutrient 8 (Dry) - use where trace minerals, amino acids, and vitamins, alone, are needed as growth stimulants for Alken Clear-Flo formulas.

Apply 1 lb Alken® BioNutrient 8 per 100,000 gallons (approx. 1.0 kg/million liters) provides an average of 30 micrograms/L for each component.

Alken ® Bio-Nutrient 9 (Liquid) - use where micronutrients and humified compounds are needed as growth stimulants for turf seeding and soil amendments. NOT for use with bacterial cultures.

The above dosages are adjusted based upon the effluent values of each of the parameters measured. For example, if the effluent phosphorus = 0.5 mg/L, then the phosphorus level required needs to be reduced by 0.5 mg/L in the calculation, to prevent overdosing nutrient supplementation. If unsure of reported levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, underdose the Alken Bio-Nutrient product selected until you are certain that a higher level of nutrient amendment is required.
