Bacterial Photographs

The following images were made with Alken-Murray's Nikon Labophot 2 trinocular microscope with 10x objective lens and 20x projection lens connecting to Kodak MDS 100 digital microscope camera. Photographs by Valerie Anne Edwards. All photos are strains from current research. Patent application is in process for these and other strains. All rights reserved.

 Bacillus pumilus AMH 109

This strain is currently Valerie's "pet", a gram-positive, microaerophilic, halotolerant (10%), acid tolerant (pH 4.5) thiosulfate and sulfide oxidizing, Bacillus that produces strong lipase and lecithinase enzymes and ferments mannitol. Denitrifies to nitrite and sometimes to nitrogen gas. Coming out of its first commercial blend, it grows in high concentration too, so we are even more pleased with this fancy new microbe, currently being added to various formulations.
