COLD WEATHER WASTE DEGRADER FOR LAKES AND PONDS

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1001 is a concentrated dry blend of bacteria designed to degrade organic matter rapidly, even in cold water. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1001 can be used in natural-bottom lakes and ponds to combat the problems resulting from high organic loading which typically arises from run-off or from fecal matter contributed by resident or transient animals — murky water, suffocation of fish and foul odors. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1001 also degrades nominal levels of contamination by pesticides and other synthetic organic contaminants. Contains 5 strains of endospore-forming Bacillus and 5 strains of gram-negatives. Revised formula in 2005, no longer mirrors CF 7001 exactly, contains two extra strains selected to enhance aquatic applications in cold weather.

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Oxidizes sulfide and mercaptans in aerobic environments
  • Fatty acid degrading to complete FOG digestion.
  • Effective over a wide temperature range (39 deg.F to 110 deg.F) and pH range (5.9 to 9.0).
  • Effective over a wide pH range of 6.0 to 8.5.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:

 See

for general application rates. Your Alken-Murray service representative will prescribe both the initial application and the weekly maintenance doses taking into consideration such factors as the size of the particular waterbody, total weekly inflow and outflow, amount of shade vs. sun, fish and fowl loadings, and levels of pesticides or other contaminants. Be aware that a heavy rainfall may bring significant contamination with its runoff, and a one-time dosage equal to the initial application may be needed to restore control. Mechanical aeration may be needed where natural aeration is deficient. For optimum bacterial performance, hydrate ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1001 before application in the evening. Thoroughly mix each pound of dry product with two gallons of warm (approx.70 deg.F) water from the waterbody to be treated. Allow the mixture to hydrate for two hours, stirring vigorously every ½ hour. After final settling, carefully pour off the top liquid layer for use, squeeze all liquid from the bran that has settled into the liquid and dispose of the remaining bran. Avoid use of algaecides, herbicides, and antibiotics when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLO®. DOUBLE the recommended dosage when applied to a water temperature below 46 F.

PACKAGING AND HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1001 is packaged in 25-, 50-, and 500-pound containers. Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or open wounds and wash hands with warm, soapy water after handling.
