 ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7008

Material Safety Data Sheet

GENERAL INDUSTRIAL WASTE DEGRADER

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7008 is a concentrated dry blend of selected bacteria with a broad spectrum of organic degradation capabilities, specifically balanced for industrial wastes. This new improved formula still handles odors, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and phenolic compounds, but will now degrade fatty acids, tannery wastes, pharmaceuticals, ketones and surfactants too. This product responds to high organic overloads or uncharacterized upsets with higher growth and utilization rates, providing improved industrial plant stability.

Suggested applications: manufacturing of paint, pigment, phenolic resins, rubber, styrene, lubricants, corn sweetener, starch, surfactants, petrochemicals, refining of petroleum and natural gas, dairies, fruit processing, distilleries, tanneries, poultry processing, and vegetable oil recovery.

CHARACTERISTICS:
Bacteria Count  5 Billion Colony Forming Units/gram
 Appearance  Free flowing brown powder
 Odor  Yeast Like

ADVANTAGES:
  • Degrades a wide variety of difficult compounds which are toxic to naturally occurring bacteria.
  • Cultures grow in either the presence or absence of oxygen.
  • Optimum choice for handling recalcitrant COD
  • Reduces toxicity so that nitrifiers (CF 7110) can initiate ammonia removal
  • Effective over a wide temperature range (45 degrees F to 104 degrees F).
  • Effective over a wide pH range (6.0 to 8.0), with ideal performance near 7
  • Enhances odor control through degradation of malodorous organic acids and sulfur compounds (see product bulletin for Alken Enz-Odor 8 for better performance of this application)
  • Non-toxic, non-corrosive, safe to handle and store when used as directed.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

For concentrated bioremediation, maintain at least 1.0 mg/l of Ammonium nitrogen and 0.5 mg/l of Ortho-Phosphate. ALKEN® BIO-NUTRIENT 3 contains these nutrients together with micronutrients and other accelerants. The strains in CF 7008 degrade most toxic chemicals, particularly hydrocarbons, aerobically, requiring at least 1 ppm of oxygen, with 2 to 5 ppm being ideal. Hydrogen sulfide remediation can be performed both aerobically and anaerobically, with the addition of sodium nitrate.

See

 Industrial/Municipal dosage charts
for general application rates for lagoon or activated sludge system application. Your Alken-Murray service representative will prescribe both the initial application and the maintenance doses taking into consideration such factors as the total daily influent and effluent, BOD and COD loadings, suspended solids and levels of pesticides or other contaminants. Be aware that a heavy rainfall may bring significant contamination with its runoff, and a one-time dosage equal to the initial application may be needed to restore control. Mechanical aeration may be needed where natural aeration is deficient.

Although product may be applied dry, either loose or in soluble packets, for optimum bacterial performance, we recommend that you hydrate ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7008 before application. Thoroughly mix each pound of dry product with two gallons of warm (approx.70 F) water without chlorine. Allow the mixture to hydrate for two hours, stirring vigorously every half hour. After final settling, carefully pour off the top liquid layer for use, squeeze all liquid from the bran that has settled into the liquid and either dispose of the remaining bran, or toss into the system. Avoid use of algaecides, herbicides, and antibiotics when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLO®.

PACKAGING and HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7008 is packaged in 25-, 50-, and 500-pound containers. Store in a cool dry place. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wash hands with warm, soapy water after handling.
