3. Hazards Identification

Emergency Overview: Organisms used are non-pathogenic, but can cause infection when in contact with open wounds. These organisms are susceptible to many commonly used antibiotics.

Potential Health Effects:

  • Signs and Symptoms of Acute Overexposure: Mild eye, skin irritation
  • Signs and Symptoms of Chronic overexposure: Mild Dermatitis and skin sensitization
  • Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Mild Allergies, dermatitis.
  • Ingestion: Ingestion may result in abdominal pain, nausea. Low ingestion hazard. Large overdoses of product can produce alkalosis in patients with renal insufficiency.
  • Inhalation: (Acute) Inhalation may cause throat irritation and coughing. (Chronic) No effects reported in humans.

  • Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air
  • Ingestion: Give victim water or milk to drink to dilute the product. Get medical advice..
  • Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing . Wash skin with soap and water. Wash clothing before reuse.
  • Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

6. Accidental Release Measures

For small spills, flush to waste treatment sewer (product is biodegradable). For large spills, Vacuum up with HEPA filter and dispose or reuse. Mop area of spill with water. Wear approved respirator for nuisance dust during cleanup.

 Store in cool dry place. Product is moderately hygroscopic, will absorb moisture and clump if container is left open. Keep container closed when not in use. Avoid storage of product above 110 degrees F and keep from freezing. Keep out of direct sunlight.

  • Personal Respirators (NIOSH Approved): if needed, use respirator to screen out nuisance dust
