Material Safety Data Sheet

How Bacteria Help Drains, Grease Traps & Septic Systems

CANADIAN-APPROVED GREASE DIGESTER FOR LIFT STATIONS, WASTEWATER, ETC.

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 4004C is a specially adapted dry blend of live-culture bacteria, designed to accelerate liquefaction and digestion of food-based Fats, Oils and Greases (also known as "FOG:) found in grease traps, collection systems and wastewater treatment systems (activated sludge, RBC, DAF, etc.). Since the bacterial cultures used in this formula (6 Bacillus and 3 gram-negative vegetative strains) repeat the original formula for ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 4004, retaining complete compliance with the Canadian Domestic Substances List (DSL) for all included BioSafety Level 1 strains AND chemical ingredients, we continue to include raw lipase enzyme and a higher level of surfactant than we use in Alken-Murray's standard FOG products, sold outside Canada. Product Approved for sale in Canada.

If hydrogen sulfide is a severe problem, ALKEN ENZ-ODOR® 2 or ALKEN ENZ-ODOR® 9 should also be applied. For waste pits, sump pumps, and large hotel grease traps, ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 4004 will break up pre-existing grease formation. Follow-up treatment and drainline treatment can be continued with ALKEN ENZ-ODOR® 2, for optimal results.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Maintain lift stations, wet wells, pumps, and float switches free from grease buildup & failure
  • Degrades primary tank skimmings, eliminate grease problems down-line
  • Degrades glycerol in the drains from X-ray machines
  • Cultures grow in either the presence or absence of oxygen.
  • 2005 Formula with Improved Starch Degradation Ability
  • Bacterial strains and chemicals ALL compliant with Canadian DSL
  • Non-toxic, non-corrosive, safe to handle and store.
  • Effective over a wide temperature range (50 deg.F to 140 deg.F).
  • Effective over a wide pH range (5.5 to 8.5).

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:

To optimize the action of the bacteria, we recommend pre-hydrating for 1 to 2 hours after adding 2 gallons of water at 70 F to 90 F to each pound of product. Make sure water is free of chlorine. Pour entire product, including bran into system. Alternatively, dry powder may be applied directly to the system, either loose or in soluble packets. Avoid use of algaecides, herbicides, and antibiotics when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLO®.To prevent severe grease buildup, treat kitchen drain-lines with liquid ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 4100, applied by automatic pump.

For large lift stations and grease traps: UseIndustrial/Municipal dosage charts for CF 7000 line.

TREATMENT CHART for smaller applications:

For initial dose & problem systems: double the suggested feed rate for the first two weeks or until control is achieved.

 Area

 Maintenance Feed rate

 Frequency
Kitchen drain  1 teaspoon per inch diameter of drain  Weekly
Laundry drain  1 tablespoon per inch diameter of drain  Monthly
Grease trap  100 - 110 grams in drain close to trap for traps 500 to 1000 gallons in size.  Twice monthly
Metering pump application  17 grams to 2 oz. (prehydrated w. 1/2 gallon of water)  Daily
